Your ex

The reading about an ex is for one specific moment: when the story is formally over and internally still open. It answers how the person relates to you now, whether there is a real chance of getting back together, and what you should do regardless of the first two answers.

It doesn't suit a break-up that happened this week: the cards will show an emotional storm rather than a state of affairs. Give the story at least a month. And don't take it if only one answer will do — "yes, he'll come back". With that request all three positions get misread.

How they feel about you is today, not the day you separated. This is often where you see that the story cooled long ago on one side and never did on the other.

The chance of getting back together is the most technical position in the spread. Read it without hope: strong cards of movement (Aces, the Chariot, the Eight of Wands) speak of real probability; static ones (Fours, the Two of Swords, the Hanged Man) say everything stays as it is. Note the Six of Cups separately: it is about returning to the past, not about the past continuing.

Advice for you is the only position you can act on. If the first two said no and something warm lands here, the spread isn't talking about him — it is telling you how to come out of this whole.

Ask it like this: "what is between me and name now". Not "will he come back" — that question shrinks the whole reading down to the second position and wastes the third, which is usually the useful one.

Feeling — Five of Cups. Chance — Four of Pentacles. Advice — Eight of Cups. The reading: he regrets what happened but is holding on to the familiar and will change nothing, and the advice to you is to leave first — not in resentment, but for real. Regret and readiness are different things.
