How to use a moon calendar
The Moon completes a full cycle in about 29.5 days. In that time it passes through eight phases — from new moon to waning crescent — and thirty lunar days. A phase and a lunar day are not the same thing: the phase sets the general backdrop, the lunar day gives the character of that particular day. Within one and the same waxing Moon, the third day calls you to act and the ninth asks you to wait.
The general rule is simple. On a waxing Moon it's good to begin, to meet people and to invest in growth. On a waning one — to finish, settle debts and clear out what you no longer need. A full moon sharpens emotion; a new moon suits ideas.
