What is an online tarot reading, and how is it different from a list of card meanings?
An online tarot reading is the same spread you would lay on a table, except that the software shuffles the deck and a reader writes the interpretation. On this page the cards are drawn at random from the 78 cards of the Waite deck, reversals included: no result is chosen in advance. The main difference from a dictionary of card meanings is that you do not get a list of keywords under each card, but a connected reading of your particular situation: Mira reads the cards by their position in the spread, relates them to your question and explains how they add up to one story. A reading takes about a minute. A guest gets three free readings a day; an account is only needed to keep your history and continue after the free ones. Tarot here is a way to look at a situation from the outside and put into words what you actually want, not a guaranteed prediction.
How does a reading on the site work?
First you choose a layout: one card for a closed question, three cards for past, present and future, or a detailed spread about relationships or work. Then you word the question yourself, and the more specific the better: "should I change jobs this autumn" works better than "what is coming for me". The cards are then drawn automatically, one for each position, and Mira writes the interpretation: what each card means in its position, how the cards relate to each other, and a closing piece of advice. The whole reading stays on the screen so you can reread it, and signed-in users have it saved to their history.
