The Major Arcana — 22 cards from the Fool to the World — stand for karmic lessons, spiritual stages and the turning points of a life. When a Major Arcana card appears in a spread, the situation matters for who you are becoming.
The Fool's Journey
The whole sequence of the Major Arcana is often called the Fool's Journey. The Fool (Arcanum 0) is a metaphor for the soul setting out through life — meeting the Magician (will), the High Priestess (intuition), the Emperor (order) and so on, until it reaches the World (Arcanum 21), where the cycle closes in harmony.
